Tajweed, an Arabic word meaning “proficiency” or “improvement,” refers to the art of reciting the Quran with accuracy and excellence, as it was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by the angel Jibreel. The Quran was revealed with specific Tajweed rules, and it is essential to follow these rules to preserve the beauty and integrity of its recitation. This course ensures that you learn to recite the Quran the way it was intended with precision and care.

Our Rules of Tajweed course is specially designed for students who have completed the Quran Reading course and are looking to refine their Tajweed skills. This course provides the practice and guidance needed to enhance students’ confidence in applying Tajweed rules correctly while reading the Quran. Repetition and consistent practice are key principles in mastering fluent Quranic recitation, and this course focuses on helping students improve their Tajweed proficiency. All basic Tajweed rules will be covered in detail, along with ample reading practice to ensure mastery.

Tajweed Rules Course Outline

  • Makhaarij (Articulation Points) – Learning where and how to pronounce each Arabic letter.
  • Waqf (Stopping Rules) – Understanding proper pausing in recitation.
  • Vowels – Mastering the different vowel sounds in Arabic.
  • Qalqalah – Learning the proper articulation of echoing sounds.
  • Sun & Moon Letters – Identifying and differentiating the two categories of letters.
  • Izhar-e-Halaqi, Ikhfa, Idgham-e-Yarmaloon, Iqlab – Mastering these advanced pronunciation rules.
  • Izhar-e-Shafawi, Ikhfa-e-Shafawi, Idgham-e-Shafawi – Learning specific nasalization and merging rules.
  • Reading Practice (Surah Al-Fatiha) – Applying Tajweed rules to this foundational Surah.
  • Reading Practice (Para 30) – Practicing Tajweed on selected short Surahs.
  • Tajweed Exercises – Practicing with exercises that reinforce the Tajweed rules.

Requirements

This course is a follow-up to the Quran Reading with Tajweed course. To enroll, students should:

  • Be able to read Arabic fluently
  • Have prior knowledge of Harakaat (vowel marks), Sukoon, Madd, Tanween, and Shaddah
    Students are encouraged to complete the Quran Reading Course before beginning this course.

Outcome

Upon completing this course, students will be able to read the Quran with correct Tajweed rules, ensuring clear and accurate pronunciation.
